Kids at Hope

Pueblo Elementary School is proud to be a Kids at Hope school. Kids at Hope is a philosophy that focuses on building a culture where every child is capable of success—no exceptions.

At Pueblo, our teachers and staff see themselves as Treasure Hunters. This means we intentionally look for the strengths, talents, and potential in every student. We believe that every child has gifts to share, and it is our responsibility to help students discover and develop those gifts.

Our students are encouraged to think of themselves as Time Travelers. Through Kids at Hope, students learn to think about their future, set goals, and understand that the choices they make today can help them reach their dreams tomorrow.

Kids at Hope teaches students to build hope for the future by exploring four important areas of life:

• Home and Family
• Education and Career
• Community and Service
• Hobbies and Recreation

By helping students see possibilities in each of these areas, we encourage them to think about their future and take positive steps toward achieving their goals.

At Pueblo, the Kids at Hope philosophy helps create a school community where every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to succeed.

What It Means to Be a Treasure Hunter at Pueblo

At Pueblo Elementary School, our teachers and staff proudly serve as Treasure Hunters. This means we intentionally look for the strengths, talents, and potential in every student. We know that children succeed when they have meaningful and sustainable relationships with caring adults.

These relationships are defined as the Four Aces. The Ace suits represent different types of caring adults in a child’s life:

  • Ace of Hearts - Anchor/Parent
The Ace of Hearts is reserved for parents. Parents are responsible for their children's physical and emotional well-being 24/7 and should give this Ace to their children to remind them how important they are and how loved they are.
  • Ace of Clubs – Other Caring Adults
Adults at school give this Ace to lots of children to let them know they go to school in a place that values them.
  • Ace of Spades – High Expectations
Adults at school give this Ace to children to let them know they believe in them and expect them to do well with the high expectations that have been set for them.
  • Ace of Diamonds – Opportunities to Succeed
Adults at school give this Ace to children to help them feel successful by creating opportunities for belonging to something positive, feeling useful, feeling competent, or feeling empowered.

At Pueblo, our Treasure Hunters know that Aces are magical - the more times they give them away, the more times they will reappear in their hands to be given away again the next day to another child who just needs to know that they have caring adults in their lives.
